Journal Entry No. 11

1/25/YC117

I now realize why my former CEOs have mysteriously disappeared after I join. Interestingly enough, there's no conspiracy involved. As disappointing as it is, the reason is quite simple. I call it "Ariani's Disease". As you get into higher positions in your corporation, you do of course have to do more work, even if you work in a very small 10-man corporation; perhaps even smaller. When one works too much, they do of course get tired out and exhausted; this is perfectly normal. However, there is a certain point when the workload is larger than how much you feel you've accomplished. After this happens enough times, you become infected with Ariani's Disease. Victims are doomed to a lack of motivation in both corporation leadership positions as well as even spending time in New Eden itself.

Unfortunate as it is, I know of this disease since I was infected with it. The corporation which I mentioned earlier we called the "Round Table Federation," and the leadership and rules set in place were extremely well-documented and specific, which is needed if you want to have any form of order within a corporation. It was named such since there were various Chairmen, each with their own particular job to do. I was Chairman of Industry, I refined ore into valuable minerals and researched blueprints to manufacture. We elected a CEO based on a Chairman vote, and the CEO would be re-elected every two months with a maximum of two consecutive terms. I submitted various proposals to change things within our corporation, our home base, etc. I also spent a lot of time examining each and every system that had the ice we would be using for our POS in J-space, and determined which system had the most ice nearby and closest to a trade hub. We had a sister corporation that based itself in C2 J-space. At one point Mike, our current CEO at the time, suggested we assimilate ourselves into SoulFire Gaming since the Round Table Federation was dying off; everyone was becoming inactive. I pushed against this, still motivated to keep the corporation going.

That was a mistake. With most of the leadership inactive (including our CEO for the most part, except for logging on for Planetary Interaction) and the waiting period to vote new Chairmen in not yet passed, me and and Lixcys Inkura tried to keep the corporation running as smooth as possible, doubling or tripling our work load for not much of any accomplishment. Soon after, both me and Lix became infected, and it eventually got to the point where we weren't even motivated enough to make ISK. My Pilot's License Extensions expired a few months ago, and that is where I am right now. I have since been cured of the disease, and I intend to reactivate my License as soon as possible. I'll have to join a new corporation unfortunately, since I assume RTF is completely dead. Even if it isn't, or I am offered a leadership position early in joining another corporation, I will beg to be an advisor rather than have an actual leadership position---that way I can affect the decisions of the corporation without giving myself loads of work to do.
